        About the Series

        Directors, Cast & Crew

Many friends from Portland and beyond collaborated to this series-in-progress. Conceptualized in 2015, Transylvania filming started in 2016. In tandem, GuignolFest was also producing a multiple year run of stage plays and other projects. Principle shooting for TNA started pre-Quarantine and is going strong post-Quarantine. Feature-length movies and episodes will start touring internationally in 2024.

Headed by the 2-person directorial team, Dylan Hillerman & Julia Reodica present a horror love letter to their friends, the city of Portland, and the Pacific Northwest.

        Directors' Statement

"The Night Attacks: Horror Series" explores a lot about what we love to experience in horror movies-- the dread, the terror, the anxiety, the campiness, the gore, the absurd kills.

It's also a reflection of the times we were going through as a  society since 2015, when we first conceptualized the horror series. Humanity was, and still is, being stretched to the breaking limits in wellness, politics, and science. When we hit Quarantine 2020-21, a whole new set of horrors affected us in real life/real time and in art making.

In The Night Attacks, there is a lot of symbolism that have personal meaning as well as shared with the viewing audience. They are based on  themes in occultism, reality, sublimity, and surrealism. You'll know the ones that speak to you and lock onto them.

The vampire trope is a favorite amongst film makers. It is a  malleable trope to make into a drama, thriller, or comedy. We love all  those genres too, so we mix it up quite a bit throughout the series.

The Night Attacks is filled with side stories, symbolism, running themes-- the movie and episodes are meant to be viewed repeatedly at  your own leisure. Coming from the graphics and traditional arts backgrounds, we savor a piece by spending time with it, reviewing it again, revisiting often as we can. We all have our favorite movies,  paintings, books, etc. that we draw inspiration from or see over and over because we relate to them somehow. Films, like art, should be enjoyed to the fullest.
